On December 21 2009, in the hall of the Philological Association “Parnassos”, took place a Nativity concert of byzantine music, dedicated to the Chanters, Lampadarioses, Domestikoses of the Great Church of Christ, who with great toil and labor have preserved and spread the Constantinopolitan Chanting Tradition in our days, amongst whom is the former Domestikos of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Mr. Demosthenis Paikopoulos.
Hymns of post-byzantine melody composers were performed at this concert by Mr. Demosthenis Paikopoulos and the choir “Ergastiri Psaltikis” under the direction of Athanasios Paivanas. The hymns were chanted according to musical recordings of the ever memorable chanters of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Constantine Priggos and Thrasyvoulos Stanitsas.
This concert was recorded live. “Ergastiri Psaltikis” has the pleasure of releasing this historical CD and in doing so, giving the music-loving audience the opportunity to enjoy this musical “feast”.
